NEW – Driving with the handler
Back to video library
Overview: This video details how to train our sheepdog to drive sheep with us. That is, to work on the same side of the sheep as us, to help us move sheep. Probably more than 90% of stock work involves this type of work, and it is also an important building block for sheepdog trial obstacle work.
This builds on the “crossing behind” directions episode, and is the first step prior to later training our dog to drive sheep away from, and across, us. Running time: 18 minutes |
Suggested pre-requisites:
“Crossing behind” directions (flanking) exercise
Before teaching driving, we should have good control of the basic directional commands, and sit down, and have our dog casting reasonably well.
